Welcome to Blue Heaven: a independent fanzine publication written for and by supporters of the sporadically-mighty St Johnstone FC.

BH was launched way back in July 1997 as an online shrine to the sporadically-mighty St Johnstone FC. Originally, it was a news and opinion-based website, with some match reports chucked in for good measure.

In February 2000, we decided – for reasons long forgotten – to dip our toes into the waters of the printed fanzine market (and we reckon we might have been the only Scottish football fanzine to started out as a website and move into print, rather than the other way round).

In total there were seven issues of the BH fanzine, with the last one hitting the streets in October 2005. During that time we masterminded the slightly-legendary Biscuits for Scotland campaign, organised the Star Saint of the Decade award to find the top Saint of the 1990s, and carried interviews with an array of characters from the club’s history including Sergei Baltacha, Roddy Grant, Henry Hall, Allan Preston and Davie Irons. Remember those guys selling Benito Kemble wigs outside the East Stand? Probably not. But anyway, that was us too.

Selling the fanzine (and occasional wig) allowed us to sponsor a couple of Saints players (Darren Dods and Manny Panther, if you’re wondering) and also make donations to the Allan Preston and Alan Morgan testimonial funds.

Today, the fanzine remains very much dormant, but we’re keeping the BH name alive with this website where we’ll post the occasional blog. You can also give us a follow on Twitter.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our stuff over the years. Most of it was a long time ago, but we’re pretty proud of it. Maybe one day we’ll do it all again properly … or maybe not.
